The selected candidate is expected to conduct research in the sub-project ‘PostCovid Fatigue and Cognitive Impairment’ within the research project ‘Biomedicine, Clinical Knowledge, and the Humanities in Collaboration: A Novel Epistemology for Radically Interdisciplinary Health Research and Policy-Work on Post-Covid-19 Syndrome’ (for more info about the project as a whole, please see https://liu.se/en/research/epistemology-and-post-covid). The sub-project examines fatigue in post-covid syndrome, with or without cognitive impairment, through analyses that bring neuroscience perspectives and phenomenological philosophy into dialogue with each other. It specifically aims to study subjectivity, affectivity, embodiment and neural processes in fatigue in post-covid syndrome. The selected candidate is expected to work with neurophenomenology or phenomenology with an interest for questions at the intersection of neuroscience and philosophy.
The obligations of the appointed postdoc include writing academic texts in English, and the selected candidate is expected to work independently and together with other researchers. Responsibilities also include participation in seminars within the project as well as at the Centre for Medical Humanities and Bioethics and at the Department of Thematic Studies – Technology and Social Change. A postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but for no more than 20 percent of full-time.
Your qualifications
To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.
It is a requirement for this position that the candidate has documented skills in in medical humanities, broadly understood. It is also a requirement that the applicant has documented expertise in written English. The applicant must have good proficiency in spoken English. Documented skills in the fields of neurophenomenology and/or phenomenology of medicine are of particular merit. Documented skills in empirical phenomenological philosophy (combinations of empirical, qualitative work and phenomenological philosophy) are of merit.
