Are you an aspiring qualitative researcher? Are you curious about hermeneutic phenomenology? The University of Greenwich in partnership with Auckland University of Technology, the University of Central Lancashire and Dublin City University are running two amazing in person events this June in Greenwich.
A Summer School: Thinking about Thinking – The Phenomenological Researcher – June 15th-17th, University of Greenwich
Over three days you will learn the practicalities and potential of attuning within the hermeneutic phenomenological space. You will work in small groups, have the space to explore the potential of this methodology for your work and meet others with similar interests. You will be guided and encouraged throughout to explore how the philosophy of phenomenology and the hermeneutic methodology informs and enhances your thinking and assumptions. This event is being facilitated by Professor Lesley Dibley, University of Greenwich, Dr. Mel Duffy, Dublin City University, Professor Susan Crowther, Auckland University of Technology and Professor Gill Thomson, University of Central Lancashire.
Hermeneutic Phenomenology in Research Praxis – June 20th-21st, University of Greenwich
This conference will enable you to learn about and encourage you to think about your research phenomenologically and how this work can translate into practice and policy. It will go beyond considering how we work theoretically and methodologically by also challenging how we think about what happens after the research is completed. You will hear examples of hermeneutic studies and practice, discuss conceptual frameworks and debate methodological controversies. This conference will be a space to push the boundaries of exploring why we work phenomenologically, and how our work can have benefit beyond academia. Speakers include
- Dr. Polly Livermore, Great Ormond Street Hospital
- Professor Elizabeth Smythe, Auckland University of Technology
- Professor Annie Vandermause University of Missouri – St. Louis
- Professor Gill Thomson, University of Central Lancashire
- Professor Susan Crowther, Auckland University of Technology
