Announcing the launch of a new research project. Funded by the DFG and hosted by the University of Cologne, Germany.
Italian Phenomenology: Receptions, Constellations, and Perspectives from Banfi to Today.
This project, funded by DFG and hosted by the University of Cologne, aims to close a crucial gap in the study of 20th-century philosophy by exploring the history of phenomenology in Italy, from its inception to its contemporary relevance.
While phenomenology is one of the most influential philosophical movements of the 20th century, its reception and development in Italy have remained relatively underexplored. This project aims to shed light on key figures, schools, and traditions, exploring how Italian thinkers integrated, transformed, and expanded on the phenomenological method, often in dialogue with existentialism, Marxism, pragmatism, and other philosophical currents. The project leaders are particularly interested in how resources and concepts of the Italian phenomenological tradition can contribute to current discussions in philosophy.
The project leaders are eager to engage with scholars from diverse backgrounds who share an interest in phenomenology, Italian philosophy, or the history of 20th-century thought.
