The British Society for Phenomenology invites expressions of interest to host our UK Annual Conference in late summer of 2023.
The BSP UK Annual Conference is a longstanding and respected feature of the UK academic scene, providing a friendly and supportive forum for inter-disciplinary discussion. Each year we convene an annual conference by way of collaboration with a different university within the UK, co-funding and co-organising the event with a representative of the host university.
At the event, we actively seek to explore the interface between the theory and history of phenomenology and its practice by professionals of many fields; and will welcome papers exploring academic phenomenological / post-phenomenological research and from those applying phenomenological methods in practical fields as diverse as medicine, healthcare, and law.
Keynote speakers have included Shaun Gallagher (University of Memphis), Sara Heinämaa (University of Jyväskylä), Dan Zahavi (University of Copenhagen), and Mariana Ortega (Penn State).
Over recent years the BSP has held the annual conference at the University of Brighton, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the University of Kent. Having convened online conferences in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, the society is looking forward to returning to face to face events (with hybrid features) in 2022 in collaboration with the University of Exeter.
For 2023, we are looking for initial expressions of interest from UK based academics in the field of phenomenology who would like to host the annual conference in late August / early September of that year.
