Special Issue of the JBSP: Gadamer Today (Volume 56, Issue 1 [2025])
Abstract: In 1986, Gadamer was invited to Britain by The British Society for Phenomenology (BSP) and the Goethe Institute London. During these visits, he presented a talk on the topic of Ancient Philosophy at the BSP annual conference at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, followed by another talk on understanding and interpretation at the Goethe Institute in London, alongside George Steiner. Gadamer’s contribution to the annual BSP conference in Oxford, now nearly forty years ago, is a significant moment that underscores the importance of reflecting on his legacy today in a special issue of the JBSP.
